SHORT VERSION A radiosensitivity test performed using a skin biopsy (skin sample) is currently under development. This test studies fibroblasts, which are skin cells. This test has not been validated in prospective clinical trials yet, and is not currently available in clinical routine. This is an invasive test and provides results in 3 weeks
This skin biopsy-based test studies fibroblasts that are cells present in the skin. The results are obtained in 3 weeks, which complicates its implementation. This test has been validated only retrospectively, but not prospectively. A prospective study is required to evaluate the test performance (i.e. its ability to discriminate between patients at low and high risk of developing complications). This technique has not reached a sufficient level of clinical proof to be used in clinical routine.
